New Hope DSL Setup Guide

Follow the instructions below to setup your DSL modem.
  • Plug the DSL modem power supply into an electrical outlet, you may use a power strip or surge protector.
  • Then plug the telephone line into a phone wall jack that has the phone number you put on your DSL application and the other end into the DSL modem (if more than one place to plug phone wire, use the one labeled 'Line', DO NOT go through a power strip or surge protector.
  • Then plug the Ethernet Cable (looks like a phone cord, but bigger) into the modem and the other end into the computer. If you do not have an ethernet card in the computer you will need to buy one. They cost about $20 at many computer parts stores.
  • If your modem has a USB cable or USB connection DO NOT use it at all.
  • If your DSL modem comes with an installation cd-rom disk, don't use it, just keep it, you may need it in the future.
