Plug the DSL modem power supply into an electrical outlet,
you may use a power strip or surge protector. |
 | Then plug the telephone line into a phone wall jack that
has the phone number you put on your DSL application and the
other end into the DSL modem (if more than one place to plug phone wire, use
the one labeled 'Line', DO NOT go through a power strip or
surge protector. |
 |
Then plug the Ethernet Cable (looks like a phone cord, but
bigger) into the modem and the other
end into the computer. If you do not have an ethernet card in the
computer you will need to buy one. They cost about $20 at many computer
parts stores. |
 |
If your modem has a USB cable or USB connection DO NOT
use it at all. |
 |
If your DSL modem comes with an installation cd-rom disk,
don't use it, just keep it, you may need it in the future. |

New Hope has two systems of IP numbering |
 | If you singed up before March 2007 - static IP numbers, they must be manually
entered into the properties section of your TCP/IP network connection.
These numbers are assigned by New Hope Telephone and only the IP numbers assigned
to your DSL circuit will work. You can get them from our Tech Support
at 723-8940 |
 | If you signed up after March 2007 - DHCP where your modem is preconfigured
to just plug in and surf |
